Before you buy

How do I check whether a product is compatible with my car?

Start with the compatibility information and requirements on the product page. Compare these with your car’s exact model, year, engine and gearbox.

For tuning software, also follow the manufacturer’s compatibility-checking instructions, using its checker or app where available. Check any software, unlock or hardware requirements before ordering.

If you’re still unsure, email info@vimotu.com with the product link and your vehicle details. We’ll help you work through the checks before you buy.

Do you have guides to help me choose, buy or transfer a tuning licence?

Yes. Our guides explain what to check before buying and how the relevant products and licence processes work:

Read the relevant guide alongside the current product description and manufacturer instructions. If you are unsure which product suits your car, contact VIMOTU with the product link and your vehicle details.

What is the difference between engine tuning and gearbox tuning?

Engine tuning focuses on how your engine delivers power and torque. Gearbox tuning focuses on how a supported automatic transmission changes gear and responds to your driving. They do different jobs, and buying an engine tune does not automatically include a gearbox tune.

The right choice depends on your vehicle and what you want to improve.

What is included, and will I need anything else?

What is included depends on the product or package you choose. Check the product page for the supplied items, compatibility requirements and anything you need to buy or arrange separately.

Physical products may need fitting accessories or professional installation. Digital products may require a compatible device, an account or connection equipment; a software licence does not automatically include hardware, an ECU unlock or installation. For services, only the work described in the selected package is included.

If anything is unclear, email info@vimotu.com with the product link before ordering.

Will my car need an ECU unlock before tuning?

Some vehicles require an ECU unlock before compatible engine tuning software can be installed. This depends on the vehicle, its engine control unit, the software already installed and the tuning platform you choose.

An unlock is not automatically included with a tuning licence. Follow the manufacturer’s compatibility checks, and contact us before ordering if you’re unsure about the result or any extra requirements.

Can I install the tuning myself, or is installation included?

Installation is included only where the product or service listing says so. For physical products, check the fitting requirements and whether professional installation is needed.

For digital products, check the activation instructions, supported devices and any connection equipment or vehicle-unlock requirements. Some products support self-installation; others require an installer.

If you choose a package that includes installation, contact us before ordering to confirm compatibility, the location and booking arrangements.

Do you have any discount codes or promotions?

We run promotions from time to time, including offers through our website and email sign-up. Check the current offers at vimotu.com, or email info@vimotu.com before ordering if you would like us to check whether a promotion applies to your purchase.

How can I contact VIMOTU for help before or after ordering?

Email info@vimotu.com or send a WhatsApp message to +44 7828 772421; we provide message support rather than telephone calls.

Before buying, include the product link and your question, plus vehicle details if you need a compatibility check. After buying, include your order number and a description of the issue.

Can I transfer a software licence to another vehicle or owner?

Transfer rules depend on the product and software provider: a licence may be linked to a particular vehicle, account or device, and add-ons can have different rules from the base licence.

Check the current terms for the exact product and contact us before buying or selling a used licence—do not assume that every licence is transferable or that none can be transferred.

bootmod3

BMW 545e: Will bootmod3 give my car burbles?

Burbles are not guaranteed on the BMW 545e hybrid. Having an unlocked ECU or seeing burble adjustment settings in an app does not, by itself, confirm that the feature will work on your car.

If burbles are your main reason for buying, contact us before ordering.

Send your vehicle’s year, details of any existing tuning or exhaust changes, and a screenshot of the DME software/ROM identification from the bootmod3 app. We can then ask bootmod3 to check your exact software and clarify the available options.

What is included with a bootmod3 licence?

A standard bootmod3 licence is for one vehicle and includes one paid off-the-shelf map of your choice, plus any maps marked free for that vehicle. Connection hardware, ECU unlocking and separately purchased custom tunes are not included unless the product listing specifically says otherwise.

Is the bootmod3 OTS Maps Bundle a full tuning licence?

No: the OTS Maps Bundle is an add-on for an existing bootmod3 licence, giving access to the available OTS maps for that vehicle. If you are buying bootmod3 for the first time, you need the appropriate base licence; you do not need the bundle simply to use the one paid OTS map included with that licence.

Can I add the OTS Maps Bundle later if I change stage, modifications or fuel?

Yes: after activating your base bootmod3 licence, you can add the OTS Maps Bundle to access the OTS maps available for that vehicle. Each map must still match your car’s ECU, hardware and fuel.

Can I transfer the bootmod3 OTS Maps Bundle to another vehicle?

The OTS Maps Bundle applies to the licensed vehicle and is not eligible for licence transfers. It does not cover another car or include separately purchased custom tunes.

What does OTS mean, and how is an OTS map different from a custom tune?

OTS means off-the-shelf: a ready-made bootmod3 calibration for a supported engine, hardware setup and fuel. A custom tune is developed separately by a tuner for your particular setup and is not included in the OTS Maps Bundle.

Does the original BMW M2 use the same bootmod3 licence as the M2 Competition?

The original F87 M2 uses the N55 licence, while the F87 M2 Competition and M2 CS use the S55 licence; the newer G87 M2 uses the S58 licence. Confirm your model, engine and ECU support before ordering, or contact VIMOTU with your vehicle details for help choosing.

Do the F10 M5 and F90 M5 use the same bootmod3 licence?

The F10 M5 is listed under S63TU, while the F90 M5 is listed under S63TU4; the S63TU4 listing also covers supported M8, F95 X5 M and F96 X6 M applications. Confirm the exact vehicle and ECU support before ordering, rather than choosing from the M badge or engine capacity alone.

Can I use any Stage 2 or Stage 2+ bootmod3 map with my current parts?

Choose a map whose notes match your exact engine, fuel and installed hardware; the stage name alone is not a compatibility check. Higher-stage maps can assume different downpipes, fuel-system parts or turbo hardware, so confirm those requirements before selecting the map.

Which fuel should I use with bootmod3, and how do US 91/93 ratings compare with UK petrol?

UK pumps use RON and US pump ratings use AKI; bootmod3 pairs its 91-AKI maps with 95 RON and its 93-AKI maps with 98 RON. Follow the exact map's fuel and ethanol requirements: 97 RON 'super unleaded' does not meet a 98-RON requirement, whereas 98 or 99 RON meets that octane requirement.

Which bootmod3 licence should I choose for a BMW 320i?

The 320i badge appears on different engines; within our bootmod3 range, N13, N20 and B48 applications have different listings. Confirm your actual engine and current ECU support, or send us your model year, engine details and the product link before ordering.

Does the MINI bootmod3 licence cover my F56 JCW or GP3?

The MINI B48/B46 listing includes supported F56 JCW models, but the GP3 needs a specific compatibility check rather than an assumption from the JCW badge. Send VIMOTU the exact model, year and ECU software/support result before buying so the available maps and any unlock requirement can be confirmed.

How do I choose between the N63TU, N63T2 and N63T3 bootmod3 listings?

Choose the listing for the engine generation fitted to your car; badges such as 550i, M550i or 750i do not identify the generation on their own. Send us your exact model, year and engine or VIN details before ordering if you are unsure, and confirm any ECU unlock requirement separately.

Is the bootmod3 B58 Supra licence suitable for both the 2.0 and 3.0 Supra?

The B58 Supra listing is for supported 3.0-litre B58 cars; it is not a blanket licence recommendation for the 2.0-litre Supra. Send us your exact model, year and ECU details before ordering if you have a 2.0, or if the required unlock and software support are unclear.

Can I sell or transfer my bootmod3 licence, and how does it work?

Yes, if you are the original purchaser and the licence is eligible for its one permitted transfer. A licence you received through a previous transfer cannot be transferred again. The original vehicle must first complete bootmod3’s required uninstall.

Before starting: confirm that the exact licence can be used for the recipient’s vehicle. Have their full VIN and correct bootmod3 account email ready. If the original car has a specialist DME unlock, replacement DME or another tuning platform, ask bootmod3 for vehicle-specific advice before relocking.

The normal sequence: connect to the original vehicle with supported equipment and follow bootmod3’s vehicle and power-preparation instructions. In the original account, download the Stock Tune under My Maps, then use Flash → RE-LOCK DME. After successful completion, open Vehicle → Active License → Transfer, enter the recipient’s details and follow the confirmation prompts. Check the email and VIN carefully: the manufacturer describes the transfer as irreversible.

Maps are separate: the seller’s OTS Maps Bundle, individual paid OTS maps and custom maps do not transfer. Confirm the recipient’s actual map entitlement with bootmod3 rather than assuming a new paid-map credit is included.

Already sold the car? If the required uninstall was not completed, loss of vehicle access can prevent the transfer. Do not assume support or a dealer can manually release it.

Read the full transfer guide and current manufacturer instructions before starting. Manufacturer support controls eligibility and account issues; contact VIMOTU for help with your VIMOTU order or choosing the correct product.

Can I add another bootmod3 licence to my existing account?

We’ve confirmed with bootmod3 that each account currently supports one vehicle licence. If you already have a licence and have purchased another for a different vehicle, create a separate bootmod3 account using a different email address, then activate the new licence there. You don’t need to delete your existing account or transfer your old licence.

This reflects the current guidance from bootmod3 and may change in future.

xHP Gearbox Tuning

Can I buy an xHP licence from VIMOTU and install it myself at home?

Our current xHP packages include installation by VIMOTU with your vehicle present in North London or the surrounding area. T

hey do not include a personal xHP licence for independent self-flashing. Before ordering, email info@vimotu.com with your model, year, VIN and postcode so we can confirm compatibility and arrangements.

For eligible vehicles previously flashed by an official xHP-Pro dealer, xAutomotive offers a separate Upgrade License for later self-flashing. Check eligibility and the required connection hardware before buying the upgrade.

Which xHP package do I need for my car?

We offer xHP installation for supported six-speed ZF automatics, F-Series eight-speed automatics, G-Series/Supra eight-speed automatics and seven-speed DCT gearboxes.

Send VIMOTU your model, year, VIN and postcode before ordering so we can confirm the correct package and installation arrangements; the model badge or chassis letter alone is not enough.

Are later xHP map changes or reinstallations included?

Our xHP package covers the agreed installation with your vehicle present in North London or the surrounding area. Later map changes or reinstallations are quoted separately; a personal licence for independent self-flashing is not included.

If you want to make later changes yourself, xAutomotive offers a separate Upgrade License for eligible vehicles previously flashed by an official xHP-Pro dealer. Confirm eligibility and suitable connection hardware before purchasing it.

Should I choose xHP Stage 2 or Stage 3 for a daily driver?

Stage 2 generally gives more responsive shifting, while Stage 3 takes the sportier behaviour further; the changes depend on your car and its available maps.

Tell us whether you want relaxed daily driving or a firmer, more responsive setup so we can check the map descriptions with you before installation.

Payment & Ordering

What payment methods do you accept?

Our checkout offers card payments and supported options such as PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. The payment methods available for your particular order are shown at checkout.

I haven't received my order confirmation. What should I do?

Check the inbox and junk or spam folder for the email address you used at checkout. If you still cannot find the confirmation, email info@vimotu.com with your name, checkout email and order date so we can check it.

Can I change my order or correct my email address after paying?

Email info@vimotu.com as soon as possible with your order number and the details that need changing, such as your email, delivery address, vehicle details or booking.

We will check what can still be corrected, but changes may not be possible once fulfilment or work has started; do not activate a licence or fit a product that appears to be incorrect.

What happens if VIMOTU cannot fulfil my order?

If we cannot supply the product or service you ordered, we will explain the situation and refund the affected unfulfilled part of your order and any applicable delivery charges.

We will not substitute a different product or service, increase the price or introduce a delivery arrangement that adds cost without your agreement.

Delivery & Installation

When will my order be ready or arrive?

Timing depends on what you order. Digital licences are processed as quickly as possible once we have the required details; we also try to process them over the weekend, subject to availability, and pick them up on the next working day if we cannot complete them then.

For physical products, check the product page and delivery information for the dispatch and delivery estimate. Installation or fitting services follow the booking arrangements agreed for that package.

If you need a product or installation for a particular day, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the expected timing.

How will I receive my order?

Digital products are supplied electronically, for example by email, account access or licence activation. Follow the delivery details in the product listing, use an email address you can access and provide any requested account or vehicle details.

Physical products are sent to your delivery address using the delivery arrangement shown or agreed for the order.

For installation or other services, we will confirm the booking arrangements with you. Mixed orders may involve more than one delivery or fulfilment step.

My order is confirmed, but I have not received my product or booking details. What should I do?

For a physical product, check your dispatch email and any tracking link provided.

For a digital product, check your inbox and junk or spam folder, plus any account or activation instructions. An order confirmation does not necessarily mean a licence is active or a download is ready.

For installation or another service, check whether your appointment has been confirmed before travelling.

If the expected delivery or processing time has passed, you cannot access your digital product, or your booking details are unclear, email info@vimotu.com with your order number so we can check.

Can I order from outside the UK?

We welcome UK and international orders, subject to the product, destination and any supplier, delivery or legal restrictions. Digital licences are supplied electronically; physical delivery options depend on the destination, and any installation or fitting service must be arranged for an available location rather than assumed to be available worldwide.

If your country is not accepted at checkout, or you are unsure whether a product or service is available where you live, email info@vimotu.com before ordering.

What delivery or installation charges apply?

There is no physical delivery charge for a digital product itself. For physical products, any applicable delivery charge will be shown or explained before you pay; for installation or fitting, check what the package includes and confirm any additional work and its price before booking.

For international physical deliveries, check whether import taxes, duties or clearance charges are included or payable separately.

Returns & Refunds

What should I do if a product, licence or installation is faulty or incorrect?

Email info@vimotu.com with your order number and a description of the problem, including screenshots or photos where useful. Do not continue using or fitting something that appears unsafe or incorrect.

We will investigate and arrange the appropriate remedy under your consumer rights. Depending on the issue, this may mean repairing or replacing a product or digital content, putting service work right, or providing a price reduction or refund.

When will I receive my refund?

Where a refund is due under your consumer rights, we make it without undue delay. The deadline depends on the reason:

• Physical goods cancelled under your statutory cancellation rights: within 14 days of receiving the goods back or evidence that you sent them back, whichever is earlier. If no goods were supplied, or we offered to collect them, the deadline is 14 days after your cancellation notice.

• Digital content or services covered by a valid statutory cancellation: within 14 days after your cancellation notice.

• Faulty goods or digital content, or a service problem, where a refund is due as a statutory remedy: within 14 days after we agree that you are entitled to it.

Refunds go back through the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and we do not charge a refund fee. Email info@vimotu.com with your order number if you need us to check a refund.

Can I cancel a digital licence after ordering?

Email info@vimotu.com as soon as possible if you want to cancel.

Once digital supply has begun with your prior express consent and acknowledgement that your cancellation right will end, and the required confirmation has been provided, we do not offer change-of-mind cancellations or refunds. Payment or internal order processing alone does not end that right.

Your statutory rights if the digital product is faulty or not as described remain unaffected.

Can I cancel an installation or fitting booking?

Contact info@vimotu.com as soon as possible with your order or booking details. For an eligible service booked online, asking us to begin during the statutory cancellation period does not automatically remove the right to cancel; if you then cancel, a proportionate charge for work already supplied may apply where the legal conditions are met.

The statutory cancellation right can end after the service is fully performed if you expressly requested the early start and acknowledged that you would lose that right on completion. Your rights if the work is not carried out with reasonable care and skill remain.

Can I return a physical product if I change my mind?

Contact info@vimotu.com within 14 days after delivery, giving your order number and the item you wish to return. We will provide the return instructions and address.

For a change-of-mind return, you are responsible for arranging the return and paying the return postage.

Please return the item complete, with all parts, accessories, labels, instructions and original packaging. Do not fit or use it beyond what is necessary to inspect it as you would in a shop. If handling beyond necessary inspection causes damage or reduces its value, we may deduct that loss from your refund. We assess each return individually.
